  • Game Capture TeamJoining the Game Capture Team lets you participate in the exciting work of capturing and relocating many wildlife species, including rhinos, buffalo, giraffe and large herds of antelope - this is hands-on and adrenaline fuelled work!
  • Hanchi Conservation ProjectWhile volunteering at Hanchi, you assist in the management of a 9,000 hectare reserve from horseback, which operates a breeding programme for rare antelopes as well as a cheetah sanctuary and predator study.

  • Mauritius Dolphin Conservation ProjectAs a volunteer at the Mauritius Dolphin Conservation Project you assist with monitoring and controlling the impact of eco tourism on the local populations of spinner dolphins, melon headed dolphins and bottle nosed dolphins.

  • Game Ranger Guide CourseThe Game Ranger Guide Course gives you a thorough introduction to the wildlife and habitats of South Africa and Botswana.
  • Wildlife Tracking CourseLearn advanced tracking skills and interpret animal behaviour while following wildlife through the wilderness of Botswana’s Tuli Block. This is a tough and adventurous experience.

We hold open days at various locations in the UK where applicants and volunteers can meet us and discuss the projects. These are usually held on university premises which are easily accessible by bus, car and rail.

A free wildlife weekend on your doorstep for all the family. There will be hundreds of varied and exciting hands-on activities, two free Imax screenings, talks from well known conservationists including Miranda Krestovnikoff, a community garden, food market and stalls, a chance to meet the experts and BBC nature presenters.

Join us at our gazebo in the Amphitheatre and take part in our ACE Tracks and Signs game. Come and talk to us about volunteering in southern Africa, our projects and our background in Marine Biology and Zoology.

Talks: Work with the Wildlife, by Katrina Steele and Alexia Massey 

From elephant and leopard studies in Botswana to hand rearing a rhino in South Africa - volunteering in southern Africa is a great way to get a real view of living in this stunning raw wilderness and the challenges facing conservation in our heritage region of Africa. Join us and find out how you can get involved in ACE's vital conservation projects and make a difference as a conservation volunteer.

We do not currently have a date for our next open day, but if you have any questions, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.

As well as you meeting us and us meeting you, it also gives you the opportunity to meet other volunteers who are going on placements. You will find out plenty more about ACE and the conservation programmes from the presentation and video we show on the day.

ACE representatives are on hand to assist you with booking forms and to check availability if you want to book your placement there and then. If you decide to book on the day, a booking deposit of £250 is required; we send a booking confirmation by post within a few days of booking.

The Open Day is not compulsory and you don’t have to have attended one in order to book a placement.
