Adele and I have wanted to visit South Africa for many years, but things have never really aligned. We had previously planned trips with other organisations, but they didn’t go ahead, so I was a little bit hesitant before booking this trip with African Conservation Experience (ACE), but I shouldn’t have been!
We really enjoyed our time at Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and would love to come back again in the future!
Whilst we were there, a baby giraffe was brought into the centre and this truly showed us what Moholoholo is all about. It was clear to us how much our efforts were helping the staff provide care for their patients, as they were very busy.
We loved Moholoholo and would highly recommend it to anyone considering volunteering!
We also visited Golola Rhino Orphanage And Rehabilitation Centre during our trip. The staff at the centre were amazing and it was fascinating to learn about the origins of the organisation. We were also given so much information about the poaching crisis and how they are helping to save these animals.
It was wonderful to see so many rhinos up close. My favourite part of the work at Golola was the supplementary feeding as we were seeing these amazing creatures out in their natural habitat.
It was an experience I will never forget. We loved every minute of it!
I want to thank ACE for everything they have done, from the moment we landed to our return at the end. I have never been on a trip so well coordinated! When we were getting transfers they were there ready and waiting for us exactly on time, and the in-country team checked up on us throughout the experience to make sure we were having a good time. It really made our trip!
The only problem is… we can’t wait to come back!
