I have volunteered with African Conservation Experience (ACE) twice over the last two years, and each time has been absolutely amazing! I have been fortunate enough to volunteer at three different projects so far, and I have to say every time has been an unforgettable experience, and it definitely won’t be my last.

I have recently returned from two weeks at Care For Wild Africa Rhino Sanctuary (CFWA) and a month at Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. My days at both projects were filled with a range of responsibilities from feeding, cleaning, providing enrichment, and general animal care. At CFWA my highlight was bottle-feeding the baby rhinos! I even got involved in veterinary work and a honey badger release at Moholoholo!

Each day was so different and I met the most amazing people during my time at both projects. The staff at the centres treat you like family and you begin to really feel like it’s your home.

Aside from caring for the rhinos I also learnt all about the community work CFWA supports, which I found incredibly interesting.

To any potential volunteers thinking about it, do it! It’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life, and you might even make friends for life.

By volunteering with ACE, I’ve been able to build my confidence so much, and it’s given me a huge amount of knowledge to help me with my university studies.  I could not recommend it enough!
